So..... I am curious to know what everyone thinks about the election. I am also curious about what you believe is going to happen now that Palin has been introduced into the election. What do you think about Palin? Let me hear your thoughts and oppinions. . . . . . :)

I am also very confused about the whole election thing, I wish we could kinda start over because I don't know what to think about either candidate sometimes. I feel that Obama just says whatever needs to be said to get where he wants to go and ends up controdicting himself on some major things. On his website I saw a quote where he said something about the war and his words were "when i become commander-in-chief" as if he's already got it in the bag. I think it was a very smart move by Mccain to have Palin as vice pres, it turned a lot more attention towards him and his candidacy. My knowledge of both candidates is still limited and I have a lot more research to do about them both. I am also pretty sure we need to start drilling here to help out our economy and not be dependent on foreign oil, that is why i lean more towards Mccain.
Personally, I support Barack Obama. I've actually paid close attention to the election campaigning this year. That's something I haven't done in the past, mainly because the candidates the parties chose always seemed lack luster and cookie cutter. Maybe its the severity of the problems the country faces this year, maybe we just finally lucked out, but it seems this election has finally offered up a couple worthwhile individuals.
The reasons I support Obama are numerous. I like his stance, and his proposals, on fixing our economy, our schools, and our health care system. I've read his plans for these areas and they feel sound, and his record reflects a capability to follow through.
I agree, also, with his foreign policy stances. I think diplomacy has been a sorely ignored tool under the current administration and Obama seem capable, if anyone, of making talks work with countries like Iraq, Iran, & Syria.
In the case of McCain. I admire his experience, both political and otherwise. I like that he tends to question the establishment, even his own political party. However, his platform doesn't feel as solid as Obama's. He talks a lot about the country's problems, but when it comes down to actual concrete plans on how he plans to fix them, I find it very hard to find any. Compare that to Obama, who has his plans outlined in detail on his website.
That's where I stand, anyway. I could probably write more, but I should probably save that in case I need to write a paper about it somewhere.
This election to me seems like "Picking the Lesser Evil" I'm not a huge fan of either McCain or Obama.
I think that by bringing Palin into the picture McCain is looking to pick up those voters that were behind Hillary Clinton not because she's a democrat but because she's a woman. Just my opinion though...
Hey Paige,
I have been the same way about not knowing which candidate to choose but a couple days ago i decided to sit down at the computer and find a reliable source about both candidates and their stances on the issues and i must say it was a great resource to find out who i support and who i want to vote for so i will pass along the website on this blog in the hopes that it will serve you as an objective point of view of both candidates.

I also agree with Bradly about this being a vote of "the lesser of two evils" neither of them would be my first choice but now that i am educated about were they stand on the issues i can be a better voter.
I have also been very confused about who to vote for like you paige.Until i decided that i needed to be an educated voter and actually research what the candidates stances on national issues were.
I made some time to research on the internet and found a great website that is impartial to both parties. It states both republican and liberal stances on every national issue and what each candidate has said about them.
It even shows the vice presidents from both parties stances on the issues.
This website is so cool and i actually made up my mind who i am voting for based on the information i found on this website!
i know you wanted the URL website from me so here it is:

i would also do a google search on McCain and Obama's acceptance speeches so you can judge them by how they address their positions for the country.
i hope this helps in your eagerness to be an educated voter for the presidential election.
the url in my first post is correct but i hope you read both my posts..i forgot i already posted something..my computer was acting wonky the other day and i didn't think it posted..but apparently it did..lol
