BELIEVE OR DOUBT?

Im sitting here in the library starting the beleiving and doubting assignment but i cant remember if we can pick our own thing to beleive or doubt. im pretty sure we can but there was that list and i remember talking about the list in class so now i have my self confussed about what to do. i was wondering if anyone knew if we were to write one from the list givin in the book or pick our own? if someone will let me know just to make sure i would appreciate it, i will continue to just write it and be safe and pick one from the list. but i was just wanting to know. Anyway it seems like a good assignment because everything you pick a side whether you believe or doubt so in this lesson i like that we get to kind of try and trick our mind into beleiving something we really dont.

Yeahh, I'm doing mine right now too. I'm pretty sure he said we can choose whatever topic we want, I think the list of topics in the book are really just an example but we can use them. Actually, nevermind. I don't even know what I'm saying.
I did mine on Facebook. ha.

i know this is a little late to be posting this but i agree with you about the Believe or Doubting paper. That happened to me when i was writing my paper yesterday. I chose to write about, driving while using cell phones should be made illegal. I had a third opinion about the topic but i found more arguements about Doubting than Believing for some reason. But through my own logic i am now "wallowing in complexity" by how impossible it is to just have two opinions on any subject. To think that their are hundreds of opinions on one topic and how amazing that would be to explore. But also realizing that a lot of people don't think that way;just think about everything they are missing out on.

A personal example, when i was in High school i was choosing whether to take an english class or take the alternative class called Mythology. I however had a dulism point of view about the topics and beliefs the Mythology class would discuss. I was esssetially afraid of opening my mind to a relativistic point of view on Mythology. I discussed this class choice with my brother who had suggested i take it. He told me this class would make me a better individual and open my mind to new ways of thinking about life, despite not believing them myself. And after words enrolled in the class.

It was one of the best classes i took. Not only did it open my mind up to other ways of thinking, but it made me appreciate the imagination the people who created Mythology really had.

Now as an adult this new way of thinking has spilled over into all areas of my life; my friendd- people i talk to,writing in this class, poletics and in general hearing someone state their point of view and understand why they believe that way without being mad or defensive. Which i think is a great way to see life.
